Update: April 27, 2022: The game’s official title will be “Hometown Hero” at launch! Surprise!
Hey, everyone! I’ve decided to use my website blog as a spot for micro-updates to hold myself accountable. If you visit each project page, they will appear as a timeline, but on the homepage, they will show as full blog posts. Despite this, I’m not looking to fill out each spot with tons of information – just quick bursts letting you know what I’ve done to improve the games each night or week.
With that being said, I wanted to introduce you to MyPetHero. This is a working title, but it will be a game that is inspired by retro Pokemon titles, but with a swordsmanship focus. You’ll play a kid in a small town that must improve his or her physical strength, agility, flexibility, stamina, and more to take on the competition in one-on-one battles.
You’ll also be able to investigate rumors of haunted houses, odd happenings, and more in order to resolve issues for the townsfolk, gain reputation, and earn badges, among other things.
The idea is to provide the player with something simple and nostalgic, but fun and personal. As with all of my games, the focus will be on personal development, so this is a single player title. You can check out the MyPetHero Project Page to keep up to date with its progress or join the Discord. I haven’t had a lot of time to develop as of late between parenting and work duties, but I hope you join me on this adventure!
